Increasing the capacity of law enforcement authorities to tackle racist crime, hate crime and homophobic crime through experiential learning
EXPERIENCE CRIME
Project description
Given the rapid increase of crimes motivated by racism, xenophobia and related intolerance, especially those affected by the financial crisis in European countries, the project deals with relevant phenomena in Greece, Hungary and Italy. The general aim is to improve responses to racist, hate and related crimes through innovative and “experiential” learning methods. Going beyond traditional approaches to capacity building, the training methodology that is to be implemented places emphasis on the lived experience of crime and a learning process where knowledge is generated through experience. Project mainly addresses selected groups of police officers, judges and legal practitioners directly involved in handling racist crimes.
