YCOVID 17-30: Youth Comes Out of Vulnerability through professional Interaction and self Development

Aim:

The YCOVID 17-30 Project aims at empowering the target group of Roma students finishing high school and young NEETs (Not in Education, Employment, or Training), further affected by COVID-19, to commit to further education and legitimate, satisfactory employment. Since these consequences and constant discrimination similarly affects young refugees, migrants and other minorities, the project activities may include young people from these groups as well.

The project’s main activity is experiential, non-formal education training sessions with two subjects:

1. Psychological-Mental resilience for self-empowerment towards the effects of unemployment.

2. Strategies for successful job search. A total of 30 (2 groups of 15) will be trained.

Objectives:

To activate at least 24-30 young Roma people towards continuing in higher education, seeking opportunities for on-going adult education and vocational training. In order to assess this objective, the trainers and the ANTIGONE team will keep in contact with the participants, through social media and regular meetings.

To raise awareness a) within the Roma community itself, highlighting the concept of resilience in employment and in personal development, b) in the local business world of the wider Thessaloniki area, regarding their role in creating inclusive workplaces and benefiting from an heterogeneous staff team, c) in local stakeholders, local authorities, educational entities, institutions, public stakeholders dealing with employment, organizations, etc.
