Training Courses and Seminars
Since its creation in 1993, ANTIGONE is playing an active role in
promoting human rights, non-violence and anti-racism values through
training courses based on non-formal education. ANTIGONE organizes
training courses within wider projects and independently. It hosts
furthermore foreign trainers with expertise in these issues.
Due to its broad experience and the passion of its trainers,
ANTIGONE is organizing and providing training courses, workshops and
seminars. Below a short list of activities that have already been
implemented.
During the year 2008, ANTIGONE has developed training courses and
professional assessment in collaboration with the Greek Ministry of
Employment. The courses were addressed to people with fewer
opportunities in order to promote the integration into employment
for
young prisoners in Athens and Thessaloniki.
During the years 2008 and 2009, ANTIGONE has developed
training
courses for the Greek Police Forces concerning the victims of
trafficking, intending to create an awareness of the latter's living
conditions. The courses have been developed in collaboration with
the Institute of Policemen for Development in Greece.
During the years 2010 and 2011, ANTIGONE participated in two
projects funded by the Norwegian Embassy for the promotion of the
intercultural dialogue and the mutual understanding in the Balkans,
aiming to reach young people living in Thessaloniki and Bitola.
On February 2011, the French organisation
Civile
dissobedience organised a training seminar on activism and non
violent techniques in ANTIGONE's offices in Thessaloniki.
Furthermore, the team of ANTIGONE organises visits at schools and
other institutions for the implementation of educational workshops
on human rights and on confronting discrimination, prejudice and
stereotypes with the participation of children, adolescences and
young people. The participative activities that are organized based
on the pedagogical methodologies of non-formal and informal
education have proved their contributive role in raising children's
awareness towards the value and the importance of equality, human
rights and universal values.
