- Rapid response reports on anti-Semitic incidents in Greece in 2003
Description: This report, aimed at assessing the extent of anti-Semitism in Greece during the whole of 2003, contains information on the following subjects: Extreme Violence; Assault; Damage and Desecration of Property; Threats; Abusive behaviour; Anti-Semitic Literature; Changes in the attitude of the Greek population towards Jews, their communities, organisations or their property; Research Studies reporting anti-Semitic violence or Opinion Polls on changed attitudes towards Jews; Good practices for reducing prejudice, violence and aggression by NGOs; Reactions by politicians and other opinion leaders including initiatives to reduce polarization and counteract negative national trends. It also contains in the annex: methodological issues; a description of the method of data collection; a brief historical of Jewish presence in Greece; a brief commentary of anti-Semitism in Greece; and the view of organised Jewish communities.

Description: This report, aimed at assessing the extent of anti-Semitism in Greece from 15 May to 15 June 2002, contains information on the following subjects: Physical acts of violence towards Jews, their communities, organisations or their property (cemeteries, synagogues, religious symbols etc) such as extreme Violence, assault, damage and desecration of property; threats and abusive behaviour; any measures seen as retaliation to other vulnerable groups, or ethnic, cultural, and religious minorities, or new types of victims; Anti-Semitic Literature; Changes in the attitude of the Greek population towards Jews, their communities, organisations or their property; Research Studies reporting anti-Semitic violence or Opinion Polls on changed attitudes towards Jews; Good practices for reducing prejudice, violence and aggression by NGOs; Reactions by politicians and other opinion leaders including initiatives to reduce polarization and counteract negative national trends. It also contains in the annex: terminology; methodological issues; a description of the method of data collection; a brief historical of Jewish presence in Greece; a brief commentary of anti-Semitism in Greece; and the view of the organised Jewish communities (KIS).
- Final Report on Islamophobia in Greece after the terrorist attacks against the U.S. 15/01/2002
Description: This report is a compilation and systemisation of the three previous reports by ANTIGONE on anti-Islamic acts perpetrated in the wake of the September 11th terrorist attacks in the USA. It addition to the previous reports, it contains an analytical summary of the situation of Muslim communities in Greece, with an historical perspective.

- Bad practice Case Study 2: "Racism and local authorities: The case of Roma in Nea Kios"
Description: In 2002 the NFPs were requested to choose a bad practice example in the fight against racism, xenophobia and anti-Semitism in Greece. The events chosen by ANTIGONE were the widely reported in the media and the Ombudsman’s reports attacks against the Roma population in the Nea Kios municipality in Peloponnesus. Sparkled by still widely debated events, a series of confrontations between the area’s Roma population and the local population resulted in the decision by the local authorities to forbid the area’s Roma from entering the commune. The decision brought about the reaction of several inhabitants who turned to the Ombudsman for mediation.
The study contains historical and sociological information on the Greece’s Roma population, as well as a historical overview of the events.
The data was collected via bibliographical research and interviews with key players in October 2002.
- Good practice Case Study 1: ‘The KIVOTOS initiative: A case study’
Description: In 2002 the NFPs were requested to choose a good practice example in the fight against racism, xenophobia and anti-Semitism in Greece. ANTIGONE chose a self-help youth centre set up by a young priest and his wife and run by volunteers from the neighbourhood. It is situated in an area with a high concentration of immigrants and refugees, who participate fully in the youth centre.
The case study contains sociological information about the area; an overview of the history and functioning of the centre and an insight into the attitudes and opinions of the people implicated in the project. The data was collected via bibliographical research, interviews with the centre’s workers and beneficiaries and participatory field work during August and September 2002.

- Third Islamophobia report 23/11/2001
Description: This is the third report requested by the EUMC following the September 11 terrorist attacks in the USA. In addition to information on assaults and aggressions perpetrated against Islamic groups and negative attitudes displayed towards Muslims as a result of the attacks in the USA. The report also contains information on Anti-American reactions and reactions against immigrants and refugees. It also includes good practice initiatives both by civil society, politicians and the state. The report’s end-notes contain all the relevant newspaper articles.
- Second Islamophobia report 19/10/2001
Description: This rapid response report aimed to cover further developments as well as a wider range of issues and a deeper understanding of the situation of the Islamic community in Greece following the September 11 terrorist attacks. It contained information on the following issues: Acts of violence or aggression against ethnic, cultural, or religious minorities, especially Muslim/Islamic communities, but also other vulnerable groups as a result directly or indirectly of the terrorist attacks; Changes in the attitude of the Greek population towards ethnic, cultural, or religious minorities, especially Muslim/Islamic communities but also other vulnerable groups; Good practices and positive case studies established in order to reduce prejudice and violence; Reactions by politicians and other opinion leaders including initiatives to reduce polarization and counteract negative national trends. The report’s end-notes also contain all relevant newspaper articles.
- Report on anti-Islamic acts perpetrated in Greece following the September 11th 2001 terrorist attack in the USA, 20/09/2001
Description: Following the September 11 2001 terrorist attacks in the USA a wave of Islamophobia swept through many EU member states. The EUMC asked the NFPs as a “rapid response” activity to assess the level of Islamophobia in the member states and report back in a few days. The Greek NFP report contained information on the following issues: verbal attacks against the Muslim/Islamic community in the media, in the public discourse, in politics; physical attacks (harassment, verbal abuse, violent acts, etc.) against members of the Muslim/Islamic community; an increase or a change of attitudes towards Islamic community and social attitudes towards the terrorist attacks in the USA.
